Volunteers

We are always looking for volunteers! If you have a few spare hours a week, and are interested in volunteering please contact us. All volunteers must be 18 years of age or older, have no criminal record, pass the RCMP enhanced Reliability clearance, have access to a motor vehicle and possess good communication and interpersonal skills. Volunteers will attended training prior to start up, as well as ongoing training sessions.

Volunteers are an important component of the RCMP based Parkland Victim Services Program. The selection of qualified, dedicated and motivated Victim Support Workers is necessary to provide a sensitive, consistent and effective service.

Our Parkland Victim Services program is asking you to become an important part of our support system. We need individuals that victims are able to trust and count on for support, information and assistance.

Emotional and practical support.
Information on the status of their investigation and the police process.
Information on court proceedings and the justice process.
Court orientations and accompaniment to preliminary hearings, trials, etc.
Crime prevention information.
Referrals to appropriate agencies.
Work both in the local Detachment office and in the community with victims as necessary.
Become acquainted with police and justice system procedures.
Familiarize self with other available agencies, and what they offer.
Liaise with police and community agencies in order to fulfill casework requirements.
Maintain accurate and complete documentation of tasks performed.
Ensure confidentiality of all Victim Services and police information.
